Easy Labor Day Cookout Menu (Minimal Cleanup, Maximum Flavor)
By Tiffany Dawson | August 30, 2026

Labor Day always feels like summer’s last real stand, and I want to actually enjoy it instead of being stuck in the kitchen the whole time. This is the menu to help you accomplish the same goal — everything chosen because it’s low-effort and low-cleanup, not because it’s fussy.
1. Grilled Everything
Burgers, brats, sweet corn… whatever’s on hand. The grill does the work, and cleanup is minimal. We never know when that last summer day will be here, so let’s not waste any time!
2. One Big Shareable
Whatever’s left from the CSA box this week, tossed together in a bowl with a drizzle of olive oil and squeeze of lemon juice — this is the “last big use” of late-summer produce before it shifts to fall.
3. Easy Clean-up Sides
Foil-pack potatoes, sliced zucchini in a grill basket, green beans roasted on a sheet pan… anything that goes straight from oven or grill to table without extra dishes is a win for me! Rosemary Herb Seasoning is my go-to for all roasted or grilled veggies; great on chicken legs and pork chops too!
4. A Make-Ahead Dessert
Something assembled the day before so it’s one less thing on the actual day. Frosted cupcakes, strawberry tart, lime cheesecake… so many possibilities!
5. Everything Served on Large Platters
Large serving platters not only look elegant, they also mean fewer trips back to the kitchen and give you more time to actually enjoying the holiday with your loved ones.
That’s the whole plan — nothing complicated, just a menu built around what you already have on hand and allows you to actually being present for the last long weekend of summer.
